it’s hard to decide whether dia:beacon is more about the art or the context. the space welcomes the artists to interact and comment on the space given to them. A good example of this is richard serra’s work. it consumes a large portion of the museum and acts as a programatic corridor from one exhibit to the next. being guided by the light as you wander, you find yourself - at moments - practically stuck between the walls of the museum and his work. and, over time, you want to believe that if you follow the curves for long enough it will eventually take the shape of your imagination.
